In the latest accolade for global aviation hubs, Helsinki Airport has been distinguished as Europe’s premier airport for business travelers and the fifth best worldwide, making it the only European airport to secure a spot in the global top five. This ranking comes from a survey conducted by Skytrax, an international air passenger review and research firm, and was published by BusinessFinancing.co.uk.
In 2023, Helsinki Airport served 15.3 million passengers, with business travelers constituting a significant quarter of this number. The airport’s recognition is attributed to its comprehensive services tailored specifically for business passengers, including priority services, efficient check-in and security processes, and exceptional lounge facilities.
Ulla Serlenius, the Executive Director at Helsinki Airport for Finavia, the airport company, highlighted the commitment to ensuring a seamless customer experience for all passengers. She noted, “We work every day to improve the customer experience and actively survey the needs of business travelers to make their experience at the airport as smooth as possible.” According to feedback, the renovated terminal and the professionalism of the staff have garnered high appreciation from the business community.
Helsinki Airport’s dedication to catering to business travelers is evident in its array of amenities. These include dedicated check-in counters, priority security lines, and exclusive lounge access in the Departures hall. Additionally, the Arrivals hall features an airport hotel offering work and rest spaces, along with quiet working areas in the gate section that can be reserved for personal use.
The airport boasts five popular lounges, three of which are slated for renovation in summer 2024. These enhancements aim to provide passengers with ample opportunities to work or relax during their travels. Adding to the convenience, Finavia’s Premium parking offers a prime location with direct lift access to the departures area, electric car charging stations, and additional car services.
This recognition follows a series of accolades for Helsinki Airport, including being named the best airport in Northern Europe and the best in its size category in Europe in previous years. These achievements are part of Finavia’s extensive Helsinki Airport Development Programme, which saw major upgrades to the airport’s facilities and services completed in autumn 2023, further cementing Helsinki Airport’s status as a top choice for business travelers worldwide.
