DWS, investing on behalf of its German investors in a European infrastructure investment strategy, has announced that it is the buyer of Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust’s (ORIT) onshore wind farm portfolio in Sweden.
In July this year, ORIT said it was selling its 48MW Ljungbyholm wind farm for around €74m as part of an ongoing capital-recycling programme.
At the time, ORIT said the Ljungbyholm wind farm – which has been in operation since June 2021 — was being acquired by a German institutional investor. The sale is expected to generate an internal rate of return of around 11% over ORIT’s investment period which started in 2020.
Peter Brodehser, partner of infrastructure investments at DWS, said: “I am delighted that we are able to further diversify the portfolio of our European infrastructure strategy for German investors, launched in April 2023, both regionally and in terms of technology.
“Following the acquisition of a solar plant in Germany and a solar portfolio in Spain, this is the first onshore wind farm we purchase for our strategy.
“The technology is state-of-the-art, and the wind farm benefits from its embedding in an attractive price region. In addition to an attractive return opportunity, we offer our investors the opportunity to invest in future-oriented infrastructure and renewable energy projects.”
