Braga is one of the 10 European cities with the highest quality of life. A study coordinated by the European Commission reveals that 94 per cent of people living in the municipality consider the city to be a good place to live.
The conclusions are the result of a survey based on more than 70,000 interviews and the analysis of 22 criteria that assess the quality of life and the satisfaction of citizens in 83 cities in the European Union with various aspects of urban life, such as employment, safety, public transport, healthcare, access to housing and pollution.
Braga comes 10th in the ranking, which is led by Zurich in Switzerland. In second place is Copenhagen in Denmark, followed by Groningen in the Netherlands, which closes out the Top 3.
In the ranking of cities that are considered a good place for immigrants from other countries to live, Braga ranks third with 89 per cent. For young couples with children, the city of Minho is in third place, with 95 per cent of those interviewed considering it to have good conditions, according to the Quality of Life in European Cities Report 2023.
