Unlike Western astrology, the Chinese zodiac is based on the Chinese calendar and the year a person is born, rather than the month.
The zodiac is said to be based on a legendary race of animals, of which there are 12 – the Goat, Rat, Horse, Pig, Ox, Rabbit, Snake, Tiger, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Dragon.
People are often associated with the zodiac animal of the year they were born, and it is believed that certain animals get along better than others. It’s a common custom that the right combination of animals can even bring prosperity to families.
As for individuals, astrologer and Tarot reader Valeria Black suggests that some animals will experience the most luck this week.
Sharing her insights with YourTango, she said: “Stand strong, and you shall find luck drawn to your strength. That’s the collective’s weekly horoscope for luck and good fortune for September 16 – 22, 2024.”
One of the luckiest signs in the Chinese zodiac this week is the Snake. Associated with the years 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001 and 2013, Valeria urged that those born in the Year of the Snake should be generous and charitable to others.
She said: “If you allow yourself the space to be a light for those who need it the most, in whatever way you can, you will discover great wisdom at the end of your efforts. In short: this luck is calling on you to gift good fortune to someone else.”
As for lucky charms, the colour red is identified as a notable token for those linked to the Snake animal sign.
The luck experienced by those associated with the Horse sign is more subtle, so much so that Valeria urged those linked to the sign not to look for it, but just be thankful it’s there.
She said: “Remember to set strong boundaries as you live your life. Your heart will guide you to what’s right for you and away from what’s not. Luck will smooth the way behind the scenes.”
Years of the Horse include 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 2002 and 2014. Those born in these years should look out for the colour green as a token of fortune this week.
Wishes may be granted for those born in the Year of the Pig (1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007 and 2019). The astrologer suggested journalling intentions for the future and being sure about what you want, as luck will “work its magic” when these wishes are locked in.
However, Valeria warned that you must take time to do this, as the “window of opportunity is truly golden”. Seek the colour gold in your everyday life this week and pay attention to golden jewellery – it will be lucky for the Pig this week.
Among the luckiest signs in the Chinese zodiac, this week is the Goat. Associated with the years 1943, 1955 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003 and 2015, Valeria claimed that those born in the Year of the Goat may experience overnight success or more publicity for their chosen path.
She said: “For a few of you, your luck will shine the spotlight so brightly on you that you may feel cold feet from the amount of comfort zone breach, but you will have to accept your fate.” As for lucky charms, the colours red and blue are linked to this animal sign.
The luck experienced by those associated with the Monkey sign means they have “nothing to fear” this week. Valeria suggested using a journal to record thoughts and ideas, and maybe a few fears to wish them away.
She said: “Now is the time to rise to the occasion and show others what you are made of.”
Years of the Horse include 1944, 19546, 1968, 1980, 20024 and 2016. Those born in these years should look out for the colour gold as a token of fortune this week.
