Since opening its doors just a year ago, City of Dreams Mediterranean has redefined the tourism industry in Cyprus. As the first European venture of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, this stunning resort has significantly elevated Cyprus’ status as a premier tourist destination.
Combining luxury, entertainment and top-class experiences, City of Dreams Mediterranean is more than just a resort – it’s a transformative destination.
Melco invested more than €600 million into building the City of Dreams Mediterranean, one of the largest development projects of its kind undertaken in Cyprus, and Europe’s biggest integrated resort.
Since opening in the summer of 2023, over three million visitors from around the world have experienced the unparalleled luxury offered by the resort, representing a significant boost for the Cypriot economy.
This success is not limited to tourism; the resort’s impact resonates through various sectors, contributing to the island’s overall economic development.
Senior Vice President of Melco & Property General Manager, City of Dreams Mediterranean, Grant Johnson, said it had been a remarkable first year for the integrated resort.
“As the largest integrated resort in the region, we have not only transformed Cyprus’ tourism landscape, but also made a substantial economic impact,” Johnson said. “City of Dreams brings an added dimension to the destination that can help the island grow year-round tourism. Our aim is to continue enhancing the visitor experience and solidify our position as a key driver of the island’s tourism industry.”
Premier MICE venue
City of Dreams Mediterranean is not just a leisure destination, but also a premier venue for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), something much-needed by the island.
Boasting the largest MICE facilities on the island, the resort has hosted over 120 events, drawing over 300,000 visitors. Prestigious events such as the IFX EXPO, I-CON conferences, and corporate meetings for global giants like LVMH, Google, NMBS and Exness have been held at the resort, which has also been the venue for numerous weddings – including the largest Indian wedding ever held in Cyprus.
It follows that City of Dreams Mediterranean has placed Cyprus firmly on the conference industry map, helping it expand its tourist product.
Year-round appeal
The resort’s diverse range of amenities ensures a steady flow of visitors throughout the year, contributing to the sustainable development of the island’s tourism industry. This summer, it will be operating a tennis academy, in partnership with Cypriot tennis star Marcos Baghdatis. The academy aims to enhance sports tourism by attracting international tournaments and training camps.
Other attractions include the Adventure Park, Waverider, and Kids City, where families can create lasting memories together.
In addition, Renu Spa & Fitness features private treatment rooms, wet facilities, indoor pool, hairdresser and a fully-equipped fitness centre.
Exceptional entertainment
Entertainment is at the heart of City of Dreams Mediterranean’s allure. Having hosted an array of renowned Greek and international artists, the resort has become a leading entertainment hub. Performers like Helena Paparizou, Anna Vissi, Despina Vandi, Nancy Ajram, Myriam Fares, Melhem Zein, and Karem Fares have graced the stage here. The resort’s restaurants also feature live performances by local artists and world-famous DJs, including Lost Frequencies, Nicky Romero and Valeron, offering top-tier entertainment that attracts music lovers from across the region.
Commitment to the community
City of Dreams Mediterranean is deeply committed to supporting the local community. With over 1,800 employees, the resort engages in various corporate social responsibility initiatives, including environmental sustainability programmes like beach clean-ups in collaboration with the Limassol Municipality and Nautilus Diving Club.
In 2021, together with its local partner, CNS Group, Melco donated five lightweight fire emergency response vehicles to five communities, to help them become more resilient to the threat of wildfires. The company also supports local organisations such as Hope for Children, PASYKAF, the Karaiskakion Foundation, the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society and Little Heroes.
