European cities stand out for their exceptional standards in key areas such as safety, housing, healthcare, cuisine, and leisure activities.
But only a handful of cities on the continent offer unparalleled quality of life, according to a relocation expert well-versed in the needs of expatriates.
In a recent clip, Kristin, from the channel Travelling with Kristin, listed nine cities that have mastered the art of living well.
“Imagine waking up in a beautiful European city where every day feels like a perfect mix of work, play and relaxation,” she told viewers.

The following nine destinations offer expats “the best of everything”, including healthcare, food, and things to do, according to Kristin.
1. San Sebastian, Spain
2. Graz, Austria
3. Utrecht, Netherlands
4. Ljubljana, Slovenia
5. Brno, Czech Republic
6. Braga, Portugal
7. Gdansk, Poland

Topping the list, San Sebastian on Spain’s Basque coast was lauded for its superior quality of life.
Kristin told viewers: “Spain often ranks number one in the world for quality of life, according to expats.
“Foreigners say they’re comfortable in Spain and rate its affordability, travel opportunities and things to do at the top of the list when it comes to European destinations.
“They also report feeling a sense of freedom and healthy expression there.
“Overall San Sebastian is a very good place for you if you’re looking for a balanced but also a relaxed quality of life.
“People come here for the food and the Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as the Basque way of life.”
Gdansk in Poland also featured among the top nine destinations, recognised within Poland for its focus on sustainability.

Utrecht in the Netherlands secured the third spot on the list, flaunting a strong job market and attractive cultural scene.
“Utrecht is home to the Tivoli Vredenburg, a unique music complex, as well as the Centraal Museum, which showcases Dutch art and history,” said Kristin.
The city’s exceptional standards of living are also owed to its large green spaces according to the expert.
“One of the greenest cities in the Netherlands, a short distance from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park.”
