A month and a half into the 2024-25 season, patterns are already emerging across the top five European leagues.
In the Premier League, we expect a three-way battle between Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal for the coveted title. Over in La Liga, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the two outright contenders and set to battle it out for the title. Bayern Munich, meanwhile, looks the much better team in the Bundesliga and should return to the top step at the end of the season. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), on the other hand, is facing a stiff challenge from Monaco, who are level on points with the Ligue 1 holders. Finally, we have Serie A, where Napoli, Juventus, Milan, and Inter have all started strongly and look poised to participate in a hotly contested title race.
Of the 96 teams competing in the top five European leagues, only 11 have managed to enter October 2024 without losing a single game. In today’s list, we will take a look at those teams and explore how they have fared so far. Let’s get to it!
One of the two surprising candidates on this heavyweight-dominated list, Serie A side Empoli has gone six games without losing, claiming 10 points. Roberto D’Aversa’s men have won two games and drawn four, scoring five goals and conceding twice.
Empoli, who are in sixth place in Serie A rankings, claimed their most impressive victory on Matchday 5, beating Cagliari 2-0 away from home.
The second surprise of the list, Lens has somehow found a way to avoid defeat in the French top flight, securing 10 points from six games in Ligue 1. Identical to Empoli, Lens has also won two games and played out four draws, netting five times and conceding two goals.
Lens secured their most impressive result on Ligue 1 Matchday 2, as they beat Brest 2-0. Will Still’s side, who are in sixth place in the Ligue 1 rankings, finished the game with 10 men.
Bundesliga high-fliers RB Leipzig have been in fine form this season, securing 11 points in five games without succumbing to even one defeat. Leipzig has won three games and drawn two, scoring eight goals and conceding just twice. No team in the German top flight has conceded fewer goals than Marco Rose’s side.

In eighth place, we have one of the most dominant teams in Serie A history, Juventus. Under Thiago Motta, the Bianconeri has enjoyed an unbeaten start to the 2024-25 Italian top-flight campaign, losing thrice and drawing the other three games. Juventus have scored nine goals and have not conceded even once, making them the only team in the top five European leagues to keep a clean sheet in all their matches.

After losing the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen last season, Bayern Munich has kicked off the 2024-25 campaign with renewed ambition. So far, everything is going well for Vincent Kompany and Co., with the Germans winning four games and drawing once in the league, amassing 13 points in five outings. Bayern has scored 17 goals and conceded just four.
The Bavarians bagged their biggest win on September 14, beating Holstein Kiel 6-1 away from home. Harry Kane scored a superb hat-trick in that game.
Having lost the Premier League title by a mere two points last season, Arsenal is pushing hard to take the final step in 2024-25. The Gunners’ intentions and quality have shown through in the first six games, with them amassing 14 points without tasting a single defeat. The North Londoners have scored 12 goals and conceded five in the top flight so far.
Mikel Arteta’s men secured their biggest win in the Matchday 6 clash with Leicester City. They claimed a cool 4-2 win over the Foxes, with their final two goals coming in injury time.
Reigning champions Manchester City have enjoyed an unbeaten start to their title defense, going six games without defeat in the Premier League. The Cityzens have amassed 14 points thus far, securing four wins and two draws. Man City has scored 14 league goals, with Erling Haaland alone pitching in with 10 strikes.
The 4-1 victory over newly promoted Ipswich Town on Matchday 2 has so far been Manchester City’s most commanding win in the English top flight.
Arguably the most resilient team in La Liga, Atletico Madrid has avoided defeat in eight league matches so far, picking up 16 points along the way. Antoine Griezmann and Co. have won four and drawn as many, scoring 12 times and conceding a league-league four goals.
Atletico Madrid spectacularly avoided defeat in the Matchday 8 clash with Real Madrid, scoring in injury time to hold the visitors to a 1-1 draw. Their biggest victory, meanwhile, came against Girona, with them beating the visitors 3-0 on Matchday 2.
Monaco, who won the Ligue 1 title with the help of Kylian Mbappe in the 2016-17 season, has enjoyed a brilliant start to the 2024-25 campaign. Adi Hutter has taken his team to 16 points in six league games, overseeing five wins and just one draw. Monaco has scored 12 goals and conceded only thrice.
Monaco, who beat Barcelona 2-1 in their UEFA Champions League opener, bagged their biggest win against Auxerre on Matchday 4. A flawless performance saw Monaco secure a 3-0 win.
The strongest team in Ligue 1, PSG, has been on a six-game unbeaten run this season. Luis Enrique’s men have amassed 16 points from six games, winning five times and drawing once. They have scored a whopping 20 times already and conceded only five goals.
PSG enjoyed their biggest victory against Montpellier on Matchday 2. The reigning champions ran circles around the visitors at the Parc des Princes, claiming a massive 6-0 victory.
Real Madrid have not been at their ruthless best in La Liga this season but they have done a superb job at keeping defeats at bay. Playing eight matches in the Spanish top flight, Los Blancos have secured five wins and played out three draws. With 18 points on the board, they sit in second place in La Liga rankings, three points behind leaders Barcelona (21 points). Real Madrid has scored 17 goals and conceded six times. The 4-1 win over Espanyol on Matchday 7 marked Los Merengues’ biggest win of the season.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men have not tasted defeat in La Liga since September 2023, stretching their unbeaten run to 40 games. They need to avoid defeat in their next four La Liga games to break Barcelona’s record (43 games).
