AALTO is an intriguing individual here, who looks to have the tools to get involved from an- each-way point of view. The 4-year-old won in smart fashion at Newmarket in July before a couple of races in which he has been ultimately well beaten – but I think there were feasible excuses for those defeats on both occasions.
Last time out at Chepstow, the ground became really hard work and that wouldn’t have aided the cause of the Ian Williams trained representative. Previous to that, Aalto had absolutely no luck whatsoever at this venue when trapped behind a wall of horses at a crucial stage, and never really managed to land a blow as a consequence.
The manner in which he travelled that day suggested that he could easily get in the shake-up over this Course and Distance, but had to sit and suffer on that occasion, before passing beaten horses. The tongue-tie goes on for the first time, and off a mark of 93 there could easily be more to come.
DIVINE COMEDY can laugh at her rivals here, where a return to Haydock is a huge plus for this 6-year-old who has been in rude health throughout recent months.
Her last effort in finishing fifth on the Knavesmire on rattling quick ground wasn’t a bad run, all things considered, and she has to be taken seriously coming back to a venue where she is unbeaten, and won on her only start over Course and Distance. It is true that she will have to find more improvement now flying high off a BHA rating of 102, but the rain that has been around the Haydock area in recent days can only help her cause coming back in distance, and jockey Kaiya Fraser has a good rapport with Divine Comedy.
Stall 14 isn’t ideal, but with plenty of stamina in the locker it would be unwise to write off the claims of this individual who has a great record at the track, and can get in the mix for the Harry Eustace team here.

I am going to take a chance on Amo Racing representative here, BUCANERO FUERTE as an each-way player in the Group 1 July Cup. The son of Wootton Bassett was mustard as a 2-year-old, winning three times, including once at Group 1 level.
It is true that he has to prove to a large extent that he has trained-on into his Classic year, seeing as we have only seen him once this term. That was when scrambling home from Givemethebeatboys in a Group 3 under a penalty at Naas in May – that form in itself is decent and if he steps up again from that (re-opposes the same rival in this field) then he has to come into the equation.
Clearly it hasn’t been the most straightforward of tasks to keep this talented sort sound, but the fact connections have green-lighted him for this task is a sign of confidence in itself. David Egan takes the ride, and given his mount’s calibre as a juvenile, it isn’t a big surprise if this combination get in the shake-up at attractive odds.

This is a competitive looking heat in which the Kevin Ryan trained IRISH NECTAR looks to have an each-way shout. This unexposed individual showed some of his old spark last time out at Carlisle when finishing fourth, and has to be respected back at a track in which he is a previous Course and Distance winner.
Cut in the ground suits the gelding, so keep your eyes on the weather, as it looks like a case of the more the rain the merrier for connections of Irish Nectar who has both career wins on ground described as Soft.
His mark shot up on the back of his victories last year, but has now eased to a mark of 82 – just 2lb higher than when last successful. If the rain does arrive, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a bit of a gamble on him, and gets the nod from me with Oisin Murphy in the plate

This is a belter of a contest as you would expect, where everything looks set-up for a great clash between Europe’s top milers in the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp.
Underfoot conditions look crucial to the outcome here, and it is hard to look past the claims of CHARYN adding yet more Group 1 glory to the CV. Roger Varian’s inmate has become a win-machine in recent times and was excellent in bolting up at the top level at Deauville last month.
With the ground looking set to be riding on the Soft-side, it won’t play to the strengths of Notable Speech, who has a potent turn of foot on a quick surface. Slow ground poses no fears for the 4-year-old Charyn who is battle-hardened with plenty of class and can dine at the top table once again here.
