MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
Perkins is a seasoned executive in the gaming industry with over two decades of experience with Choctaw Casino & Resorts. His journey from a cashier to the Corporate Senior Director of Slot Operations is a testament to his dedication, expertise and leadership in the field – simultaneously illustrating the opportunities for growth and leadership within the industry.
In addition to his corporate role, Perkins is also an Adjunct Instructor in Native American Gaming Management at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he shares his knowledge and passion for the industry with the next generation of gaming professionals.
EMPLOYMENT
Perkins’ journey with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma’s Division of Commerce began in 2002 when he started in an entry-level position as an EVS/ cashier at the Durant West Store. His potential was quickly recognised, leading to a series of promotions that saw him rise through the ranks of the organisation.
in January 2004, he transitioned to the role of Tribal Security Officer and EMT in the Durant Region – a position that allowed him to develop his understanding of security and emergency management. In total, he held this role for just under three years before moving up the ranks again.
Perkins’ next role saw him entering the world of slots – first becoming a Slot Operations Attendant in October 2006 before becoming Slot Operations Supervisor in January 2007. He held this latter role for a year and a half.
Perkins continued to develop his career within the organisation, becoming Casino Operations Manager in August 2008 at the Durant Bingo Property. Over the next year and a half, he honed his leadership skills while managing daily casino operations.
Towards the end of his stint as Casino Operations Manager, his expertise in slot operations became evident, leading to his promotion to Slot Operations Shift Manager in February 2010 at the Durant property.
By August 2010, Perkins had been promoted to Assistant Slot Operations Manager, and less than a year later – in February 2011 – he became the Slot Operations Manager. His tenure as Slot Operations Manager lasted four years in total and culminated with him jumping up the ranks once more in May 2015 to the role of Director of Slot Operations – a position that saw him taking on even greater responsibility.
Finally, in September 2016, Perkins was appointed to his current position as Corporate Senior Director of Slot Operations for Choctaw Casinos & Resorts. In this role, Perkins provides leadership and direction for slot operations across all 22 Choctaw Casinos and Resorts properties, overseeing a total of 13,000+ machines, including numerous Class II and Class III manufacturers. His leadership has been important in aligning the slot operations with the overall business strategy and brand standards, ensuring that each property operates efficiently and profitably.
In addition to his corporate role, Perkins has also been an Adjunct Instructor at Southeastern Oklahoma State University since July 2015, teaching Native American Gaming Management. His course prepares students for careers in Native American gaming, providing valuable insights from his extensive experience in the gaming industry.
